How have they changed to be better suited to life in the wild?
Physical Adaptations
Parts of Their Bodies That Help Them Survive: Snow Leopards have a thick coat of patterned fur that has two purposes. First, it helps the cats keep warm in their cold climate. Second, it causes them to blend in with their surroundings so that they can sneak up on their prey with ease. Snow Leopards also have wide feet so that they do not sink into the snow.
Behavioral Adaptations
Actions and Sounds That Help Them Survive: In areas with few humans, Snow Leopards will be active at dawn and dusk. However, they will become nocturnal in areas inhabited by humans. They also mark their home ranges to keep away rivals. Snow Leopards purr, meow, and growl like other large cats, but in fact, their vocal cords are not made to roar like lions.
